Patrick Elouarghi and Philippe Chapelet are responsible for opening and operating HI. HI is the first global environment designed and created by matali crasset.
HI features 10 concepts and 38 rooms.
Each concept is based on a unique way of organising space, of living and experimenting. That means these are not decorative themes but rather typologies that yield alternatives to spaces that are usually highly codified.
The room becomes a structure for welcoming micro-events in relation to the concept of the space. In this
way, comfort goes beyond mere physical or visual comfort.
This is comfort at work, produced by the generosity and simplicity of the structures which, like operating instructions, invite us to take advantage of the present moment.
These spaces are based on an openness of volumes, a non-specialisation of structures. This has the effect of smoothing the transition from one activity to another and of sharing one’s experiences.
HI offers ten concepts for 38 rooms.
Each concept offers a specific spatial arrangement to be lived and explored. They are not decorative themes but more typologies that give alternatives to what are usually extremely codified spaces. This bedroom is a tribute to concrete. This material is the symbol of French Architecture. Completely build with concrete walls and bright color stripes. This space is opened with the uncluttered shower to give the effect of a light cube and in an angle a neon light emphasizes a library. this room has a nice balcony overlooking the patio.
the room is dedicated to sound and image, almost like a private auditorium with a projector, a large screen and the appropriate sound system to enjoy a good movie. the movie can be seen from either the bed or the bathtub.
shelves made of chestnut wood surround the area and form a border between two zones: the upper zone is to be used as a an open cupboard for storage and the lower zone for relaxation. the shower and toilets are behind a chestnut screen, as if they were at the hedge of a garden.
a sitting room during the day with the bed hidden in a wooden wall closet . a shift from day to night – a process of metamorphosis. at daytime the sitting room can be used like a lounge; at night if you open the doors a pink alcove appears and reveals the other half of the bed.
the room is white hence the name of the concept. the bed looks like a table. the bathtub designed by matali crasset looks like a canopy with white vinyl around the bath and with a fuchsia-colored plexiglas “bath sky-dome”. white & white is devoted to a sense of well-being, providing fresh – white – products. the terrasse concepts have a private roof top outdoor terrace with its own jacuzzi.
all the furniture is within the central area, dispatched on an indoor terrace, with all the facilities needed, for sleeping, sitting , working... at the far end of the terrace, plants form a natural curtain for some intimacy during shower time, the toilets are like a shed in a garden and have a lantern-like appearance once the lights are on.
here is a graphic room with a clear cyber-culture influence. the walls feature giant pixels of blues and the different pieces of furniture are like several windows of a computer screen, this room has a nice balcony overlooking the patio.
this versatile area can be modulated and changed from lounge, to office, to bathing area. the guest enter and discover a spacious lava stone bathtub, a living area, an round table with four seatings for meetings, and a beautiful terrace on the 7th floor.
this room is divided into three areas distinguished by different colors and materials: an invigorating red sleeping area, a cool white, lounge area with a light wood finish and a refreshing blue bathroom with a resin floor.

The bar is at the heart of the hotel. Its centrepiece is a suspended nacelle, impressive yet light, like a modern alcove. It structures the whole space, filtering the light coming in from both the street and the atrium garden.
In the evening, the atmosphere turns festive with lighting effects. The nacelle comes to life with the presence of live DJs (sound designed by Kompakt) or the Hi.mages video screenings.

A contemporary steam bath, made out entirely in resin. The hammam has two hot areas and two adjoining rooms, one for musical relaxation and the other one for massages. Wellbeing also means taking advantage of Nice’s wonderful climate, by relaxing in the atrium garden or on the room and spa terraces as well as the roof top pool with its panoramic view of the city.

Considered for its innovative character the “HI shop” allows customers to buy all kinds of products related to the hotel’s atmosphere. Hi became the first hotel to produce a music album under its own label HI-print: HI!H by Frédéric Galliano.
Frédéric Galliano is a music passionate since his teenage days. At that time he had already acquired a wide cultural musical taste, such as Latino, jazz and Kraftwerk’s electronic preludes at the end of the 70’s.> Cliquez ici pour la suite
In the meantime, he was learning drums and piano, and started building an interest in African and Oriental music. His curiosity has no limits and he is interested in worldwide musicology which makes him a very special artist on the electronic scene.
He became a Dj by chance after he stood in for someone one night in a night club. His musical culture rapidly made him famous but his carrier really took off during the very popular parties “à la poursuite de la 13e note” and also because people could hear some of his remixes: “what’s up” in 1996 and “la yellow connection” in 1997.
To compose the album, Frédéric Galliano came as a resident artist at the HI hotel and his inspiration came from the different atmospheres he felt in every room and concepts as well as the communal areas. Every area of the hotel corresponds to a special feeling that was translated into music.
The album is composed of 9 tracks corresponding to the 9 concepts and 3 tracks for the communal areas of the hotel such as the happy bar, or the restaurant.
The album was launched in March 2008 after 2 years of work. It is sold in selected shops such as “lieu commun” and “Colette” in Paris.
Frédéric Galliano celebrated the launch of his album by playing at the HI hotel’s happy bar on May 9th 2008.
It surely must be a pretty special DJ mixtape if a label sees the need for a CD edition - in this age of total download overload, it's just something you don't do anymore. But along comes REBOLLEDO and proves everybody wrong with MOMENTO DRIVE, a persuasive plea for a nearly forgotten format and a high point for a vanishing art form.
"I always liked the word 'momento'", says the DJ and producer, "because of its double meaning in Spanish… as in 'moment' when talking about a space in time or 'momentum' when talking about inertia". And sure enough, the tendency of an object to keep in motion is one important part of REBOLLEDO's very own formula, but it's not the only one: "I truly enjoy the feeling of constant motion - music can take you to places without you even leaving the room. The resulting effect on the body that has nothing to do with bpm amounts or high volume, but all with inertia and power. I like to call that effect 'drive'".> Read more
The first major solo outing for Rebo after his adored full-length debut SUPER VATO (CÓMEME CD 01) from 2011 is a DJ mix - in the hands of an artist as distinctive as the Mexican half of globetrotting duo infernale PACHANGA BOYS, however, the result is just as engaging and idiosyncratic as any artist album. Rebo's own studio work makes a welcome appearance with the exclusive "Windsurf, Sunburn And Dollar", Pachanga Boys' "Poem For The Youth", their remix of Slove's "Flash" or Red Axes' "Caminho De Dreyfus" (reworked by the master himself) - all of them proven bangers neatly interwoven with eerily fitting contributions from kindred spirits such as Barnt, The Twins, Wolfgang Voigt or Justus Köhncke.
And then, there's that cover. A loving recreation of the artwork for the album "Wally On The Road" from Pinoy rock legend Wally Gonzalez, this harks back to Rebo stumbling upon that record in the psychedelic rock section of a shop in Shibuya, Tokyo: "70´s Yamaha motocross bike, Porsche on the side... what else do you need!?!? I bought it right away." The music found an open ear, too: "It was raw and powerful, a perfect match for my taste. That´s when I decided to include one of his tracks in the project and to recreate the original artwork. In my perspective, it perfectly mirrors my approach to music - simple and strong at the same time.
